Resistance Int’l Film Festival unveils competition lineup

The 16th Resistance International Film Festival in Iran has unveiled official competition lineup.

The 16th Resistance International Film Festival (RIFF) in Iran has unveiled the official competition lineup.

Among a lineup of 12 films to be screened are ‘Abadan 11, 60’ by Mehrdad Khoshbakht, Ebrahim Hatamikia’s latest flick ‘Exodus, ‘Pinocchio, Uncle Sardar and Raisali’ by director Reza Safi, ‘The Daughter of Iran’ by Jalal Ashkezari and ‘Day of Chaos’ by actor/ filmmaker Behrouz Shoeibi.

Also included in the competition section are ‘Selfie with Democracy’ by Ali Atshani, ‘When the Moon Was Full’ by Narges Abyar, ‘The Undercover’ by Amir-Abbas Rabiee, ‘Red Square’ co-directed by Hasan and Hossein Seyed-Khani and ‘The 23’ war movie by Mehdi Jafari.  

Amir Dasargar will also attend the event with his movie ‘No Fly Zone’ on three teenagers who are preparing to join drone competitions. In the process of doing the project, they face various obstacles resulting in a conflict with certain people.

‘The Blood of Palm’ by Syrian filmmaker Najdat Ismail Anzour will also be screened in the international competition category of the RIFF.

The annual Resistance festival is an attempt to commemorate the anniversary of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, which is known as the “Sacred Defense” in Iran. To this end, the event runs in two different stages. The first one took place during the Sacred Defense Week from September 21 to 28 in Tehran.

The second part of the Resistance festival will be held from November 21 to 27 to celebrate the anniversary of Basij Day, which falls on November 25.
